Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data ABC English (“we”, “the app”) collects, why we collect it, how it is shared, and how you can delete it.

1. Data we collect

• Account data: email address, hashed password, and the nickname you register with.
• Learning data: lesson progress, play history, favorites, vocabulary cards, daily study minutes, and streak information.
• Pronunciation practice: when you use the speaking practice feature, your microphone audio is uploaded to our servers and forwarded to our pronunciation-scoring provider to produce a score. We do not retain the raw audio after scoring.
• Oral scores: pronunciation scores and per-word results tied to your account.
• Membership and purchase records: if you buy a membership through Google Play, we store the purchase token and order record needed to verify the purchase, confirm it with Google Play, and handle refunds and accounting.
• Device data: an app-generated device UUID and your platform (iOS/Android). Study reminders are scheduled entirely on your device; we do not collect any push notification token.
• Web deletion requests: if you submit the account-deletion form on this website, we receive your account email address and the optional reason text you enter.

2. How we use your data

• To authenticate your account and keep it secure.
• To sync your learning progress across devices.
• To score your English speaking and show improvement over time.
• To send local study reminders you configure in the app.

3. Services we share data with

• Tencent Cloud (Smart Oral Evaluation): receives your practice audio to evaluate pronunciation. It processes the audio solely for scoring.
• Alibaba Cloud OSS: hosts and delivers lesson audio and images. No personal account data is sent to this service; your device downloads lesson media directly from it.

We do not sell your data, do not show third-party advertising, and do not use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.

4. Data security and retention

All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS. Passwords are stored only as salted bcrypt hashes. Account and learning data are retained for as long as your account is active. Raw practice audio is not stored after pronunciation scoring.

5. Account and data deletion

You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time:

• In the app: Profile (我的) tab → Settings (设置) → Account & Security (账号与安全) → Delete account (删除账号). After confirming with your password, your account, progress, favorites, vocabulary, and scores are permanently deleted immediately.
• On the web: submit a request at /delete-account.html. The email address and optional reason you submit are used only to verify and process the request and are retained until the request is processed, and in any case within 30 days.

Deleting your account ends any paid membership immediately, and remaining membership time is not refunded automatically.

6. Children

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
